True Lover’s Walk
Found along the back of West Street, on the bank of the River Tees is True Lovers Walk. Serene and quiet away from the bustling centre, no one truly knows the mysterious story of where the true lovers came from. The walk leads you past the viaduct and into St Mary Magdalene’s Church, where you will find a 14th C grave with a couple carved onto the tomb, the town’s own Romeo and Juliet.
The walk can be completed as a short detour from the heritage trail or enjoyed as its own scenic walk.
The Yarm Pub Trail
Yarm has a long history of inns, coaching houses and social spaces. This 10 stop route highlights the pubs along and around the High Street, offering a modern way to explore the town’s culture and historic atmosphere.

Found in Eaglescliffe, the village next to Yarm, is Preston Park and Museum. Preston Park offers a wider heritage experience beyond Yarm, combining park walks with museum collections and historic buildings. The Tees Heritage Park Walk is ideal for visitors who want to extend their day and explore the wider Tees Valley landscape.
The Tees Heritage Walk takes you along the river path and ends at the museum, another key spot to find out more about the town’s history.
